The Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is critical to the mission of our department to educate the next generations of surgeons and drive clinical excellence, innovation and collaborative care. This division, created in 2021 is committed to fostering a culture in which diversity, equity and inclusion are imbedded in our daily lives as surgeons, trainees and staff. Our division works closely with the School of Medicine’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion, particularly via the Anti-racism Coalition. While there is much work to be done, we look forward to continued intentional focus in this area and believe this work will move us towards a truly diverse, equitable and inclusive surgical workforce.
